1、维尔纳·冯·西门子

维尔纳·冯·西门子(Ernst Werner von Siemens)(1816年12月13日—1892年12月6日)世界著名的德国发明家、企业家、物理学家、电气工程师,铺设、改进海底、地底电缆、电线,修建电气化铁路,提出平炉炼钢法,革新炼钢工艺,创办西门子公司。

1866年,维尔纳-西门子研发出了直流发电机,最初运用于军事目的,在功率和负荷能力进一步改进之后,发现这种机器在电车和电气发动机领域也有广泛的应用前景。

1879年,西门子公司为柏林街道安装了路灯。1880年,电梯被制造出来。1881年,西门子建立了第一个电子公共交通系统,使有轨电车行驶在柏林近郊。从1877年开始,电话机也加入到公司产品行列。

2、亚历山大·贝尔

贝尔的主要成就是发明了电话;此外,还制造了助听器;改进了爱迪生发明的留声机;对聋哑语的发明贡献甚大;贝尔写的文章和小册子超过100篇。1881年,他为了发现美国总统詹姆士·加菲尔德体内的子弹设计了一个检验金属的装置,成为X光机的前身。还创立了英国聋哑教育促进协会。

3、托马斯·阿尔瓦·爱迪生

托马斯·阿尔瓦·爱迪生(Thomas Alva Edison,1847年2月11日—1931年10月18日),出生于美国俄亥俄州米兰镇,逝世于美国新泽西州西奥兰治。发明家、企业家。

1877年,爱迪生发现电话传话器里的膜板随着说话声会引起振动的现象,便拿短针作了试验,从中得到很大的启发。说话的快慢高低能使短针产生相应的不同颤动。那么,反过来,这种颤动也一定能发出原先的说话声音,于是他开始研究声音重发的问题。


8月15日,爱迪生让助手按图样制出一台由大圆筒、曲柄、受话机和膜板组成的“怪机器”,制成之后,爱迪生取出一张锡箔,卷在刻有螺旋槽纹的金属圆筒上,让针的一头轻擦着锡箔转动,另一头和受话机连接,然后爱迪生摇动曲柄,对着受话机唱歌,之后把针又放回原处,再摇动曲柄,接着机器就回放出爱迪生的声音。

12月,爱迪生公开展示这台“锡箔筒式留声机”,轰动了全世界。

4、伽利尔摩·马可尼

伽利尔摩·马可尼(Guglielmo Marconi,1874年4月25日—1937年7月20日),意大利无线电工程师、企业家、实用无线电报通信的创始人。

1894年年满二十岁的马可尼了解到海因利希·赫兹几年前所做的实验,这些实验清楚地表明了不可见的电磁波是存在的,这种电磁波以光速在空中传播。

马可尼很快就想到可以利用这种波向远距离发送信号而又不需要线路,这就使电报完成不了的许多通信有了可能。例如利用这种手段可以把信息传送到海上航行的船只。

马可尼经过一年的努力,于1895年成功地发明了一种工作装置,1896年他在英国做了该装置的演示试验,首次获得了这项发明的专利权。马可尼立即成立了一个公司,1898年第一次发射了无线电。翌年他发送的无线电信号穿过了英吉利海峡。

虽然马可尼最重要的专利权是在1900年授予的,但是他不断地改进自己的发明,从中获得了许多专利权。1901年他发射的无线电信息成功地穿越大西洋,从英格兰传到加拿大的纽芬兰省。

5、卡尔·弗里特立奇·本茨

卡尔·弗里德里希·本茨(Karl Friedrich Benz,1844年11月25日-1929年4月4日),德国著名的戴姆勒-奔驰汽车公司的创始人之一,现代汽车工业的先驱者之一,人称“汽车之父”、“汽车鼻祖”。

1879年12月31日制造出第一台单缸煤气发动机(转速为200转/分,功率约为0.7千瓦)。

1886年1月29日本茨终于又研制成功了单缸汽油发动机(与对手不同的是,本茨将发动机安装在三轮车架上),发明了第一辆不用马拉的三轮车(现保存在慕尼黑的汽车博物馆)。
