这是音乐剧《变身怪医》中的主题曲之一，讲的是医生研究出一种可以把人性中的罪恶去除的药水，不知道惯用与否，要用自己当试验品，他拿着药水，唱了这首歌使自己鼓足勇气，然后喝下了药水……
很可惜，他失败了……
这首歌费翔在97年曾经翻译成中文唱，收录在他的97版《百老汇精选》里，04年才解决了版权问题，终于《百老汇经典辑》里唱了英文版
