To students and people going out for business far away from their homes, the telephone can shorten the distance between them and their families. Thus they will get comfort whenever they are homesick or they run into trouble. With the help of the telephone, people can keep in touch with anyone at any time and in any place for urgent help.
All in all, the telephone is so helpful that we can say that nowadays we can not live without the telephone in our daily life. We will further improve the performance of the telephone so as to create better conditions for its development.

2006年12月11日很多人都會說是蘇格蘭人亞歷山大·格拉漢姆·貝爾！其實不是的！電話的發明者不是蘇格蘭人亞歷山大·格拉漢姆·貝爾，而是美國一位貧窮的義大利裔移民安東尼奧·梅烏奇。在梅烏奇去世113年後，歷史終於做出了公正的判決，認定他才是電話的發明人。安東尼奧·梅烏奇1808年出生於義大利佛羅倫薩。19世紀30年代移居古巴，50年代移居美國。他曾在佛羅倫薩藝術學院學習機械工程，並在擔任佩爾戈拉劇院的舞台技師時設計了一種幫助人們通話原始裝置。在移居古巴期間，梅烏奇在研究用電擊法治病時發現聲音能以電脈沖的形式穿過銅絲，這引起了他的極大興趣，試圖探索其中奧妙。但直到1850年梅烏奇移居紐約時才正式開始這項研究。在妻子生病癱瘓後，梅烏奇做了一套裝置，把她的卧室和他在旁邊的工作間連接起來。1860年他公開了這套裝置。他想繼續深入研究，可是沒有研究經費來源。移居美國期間的梅烏奇生活窮困潦倒，無可奈何之下梅烏奇把他那套裝置送到一家舊貨店，僅賣了6美元。隨後，梅烏奇拋開原型，開始製作新的電話，終於在1871年製造出一個以圓柱體形式包在一個鐵核外面的「感應器」。梅烏奇的發明非常成功，可惜當時他拿不出250美元的專利費為自己的寶貝申請專利。他只得提交一份為期一年的「有聲電報機」專利通知，而三年後他連10美元也拿不出，無法更新這一通知。於是，他把一台樣機和有關的技術細節寄給西方聯合電報公司。但該公司沒有人慧眼識珠，這些材料也丟失了。兩年後，曾經與梅烏奇共用一間實驗室的貝爾申請了電話專利。對貝爾的欺世盜名行為，梅烏奇十分氣憤，隨即對貝爾提出起訴。但由於梅烏奇1889年去世，訴訟隨之終結。直到2002年6月16日，在歷史學家和義大利裔美國人的強烈呼籲下，美國國會終於承認了1860年梅烏奇在紐約展示「電話」這一歷史，並把貝爾趕下了電話發明者的位子。
